Gossip Girl meets Miss Selfridge
Our favourite fashion-filled show and Miss Selfridge have joined forces to create a Gossip Girl collection based on the four female lead characters. Launching this month, the collection featuring the styles of Serena, Blair, Jenny and Vanessa was inspired by the designs of Gossip Girl Fashion designer Eric Daman.
The collection will consist of eight pieces featuring a leopard print boho maxi, a black body-con bandage dress, a lace tutu skirt and a ruffle front shirt, all consistent with the slick styling of the show. The items will retail from £39.
Yasmin Yusuf, creative director of Miss Selfridge explained, "The dresses we've created based on the characters fit perfectly with our spring/summer 2010 range. Our customers love the show and the styles of the girls, so the partnership is a perfect match."
Paul Bufton, general manager of Warner Bros consumer products also commented on the collection, "Fashion is intrinsic to Gossip Girl and a key ingredient in the continued popularity of the series". "Miss Selfridge has created a collection that is true to the ideals of the show and one that young women will
aspire to own. We're certain it will be a commercial success, and the beginning of a long-term relationship with the retailer."
Make sure you're quick off the mark, it's sure to be a sell-out!

Topshop Launch Make-up Range!!
Topshop have announced they will be launching their very own Make-up line in May, following in the footsteps of H&M, Zahra and Primark. The collection features a multitude of fashion brights in the form of nail polishes, eye-shadows and lip glosses/sticks all creating smooth luxe finishes.
The range was designed by Topshop designer Lizzie Dawson. Incorporating the experimental nature of the Topshop customer, its influences come from fashion rather than make-up trends.
Look out for the nail polish named 'The Big Smoke' which is a very good copy of Chanel's must-have sell-out colour 'Particuliere'.
If you want to check out the range in action, check out Topshop's Unique fashion show where the new range was used on the models. Skin Tint was used to warm the skin and gold paint was used on the inner-corner of the eye.

Sketchbook Magazine Designer Sample Sale
11am - Friday 16th April - 10 Newburgh Street W1, Carnaby, W1
In their continuous mission to support emerging fashion talent, Sketchbook Magazine have collaborated with Vauxhall Fashion Scout to bring the public a rare opportunity to get their hands on samples from some of the ‘talent goldmine’s’ top designers.
The leading fashion illustration magazine has been occupying a space on Newburgh Street in Carnaby for the past two weeks, hosting fashion and art exhibitions, discussions with guest speakers and live music.
In the pop-up shop’s third and final week, it will host its very own sample-sale featuring six emerging talents from Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s roster.
Chinese-Glaswegian Yan To (who has already provided an insightful look on what it takes to become a fashion designer in a live discussion at the pop-up store), will be selling sample items from his Zero (AW09) and One (SS10) collections. His collections have already been snapped up by influential London boutique b-Store located on the prestigious Saville Row and he continues to receive rave reviews in the fashion press.
Multi-talented Ada Zanditon will be making her SS10 jewellery collection samples available to the public at the sale. Interning with Alexander McQueen, before going on to study at the London College of Fashion, Ada will no doubt impress with her future collections in fashion and jewellery.
London’s newest Fashion label, Swagger and Soul will also be making an appearance. With only one season under their belts, the leather label have already built up a huge following including Daisy Lowe and Alexa Cheung.
Other designers featuring in this unique sale include Knitwear specialist Alice Palmer, Harriet's Muse who creates a decadent style with a sinister influence and Hong Kong born Viking Wong who experienced her debut fashion week this February.

Puma - Fashion Collaborations
PUMA has been featured in the fashion press a lot recently and quite rightly too.
Puma have always managed to keep up-to-date with changes in trends and culture so it didn’t surprise me when I heard they were jumping on the ‘Sports-Luxe’ band-wagon this season by collaborating with fashion designer Hussein Chalayan (whose first collection was purchased and displayed in luxury designer store Browns in 1993) and launching the Urban Mobility collection. While not as extreme, the collection continues Chalayan’s penchant for cutting-edge style combined with function.
The collection features desert boots for men and trainer versions of this summer’s must-have wedges for women, among other unique designs which show off his talent for material innovation and Puma’s technical excellence. The collaboration between Chalayan and PUMA is long-term owing to his role of Creative Director for the sports brand, so keep your eyes-peeled for additional collections in the seasons to come.
Adding to PUMA’s already impressive roster of collaborators that include Alexander McQueen and Mihara Yasuiro, I would recommend checking out the ‘Modern Africa’ women’s apparel collection by Kehinde Wiley. By using the artist’s distinct graphics and colourful wallpaper-like backgrounds, the collection is an instant visual masterpiece.
